clinic visit & Haircut

We went in for Carter's monthly clinic visit last week and everything looks great.  His numbers all look perfect, his ears finally look great and he did really well.  He even informed me that he did not need to sit on my lap anymore when he gets sedated or his port gets accessed.  When we went to the sedation room he just jumped right up on the bed and layed down on the pillow with a smile on his face (he hates being sedated).  I was surprised and so proud of him.  He kept telling me and everyone else in the room how brave he was.  The doctor asked him if he was ready for his sleepy medicine and he smiled and said, "yep!"  He did so great!  He's growing up so fast.  He even woke up quickly which never happens.

Yesterday he got his first haircut in over a year!  It was kinda hard to actually do it, I've been wanting his hair to be long and curly again for so long now!  But he said he wanted it cut and he looks so handsome.

We've been spending too much time at the hospital!

Carter woke up with yet another fever yesterday.  And he has yet another ear infection.  He's on yet another antibiotic, but this ones even better because he has to take it every 6 hours - including in the middle of the night.  That should be fun.  He's feeling much better now.  He was pretty miserable yesterday morning.  His counts are fine and he perked up after taking a nap in the clinic.  So, here we go again, wish us luck!

Back on the meds

We went to the clinic today to check blood counts.  Everything is looking great.  White blood cells 3300, ANC 1800, hemoglobin 11 and platelets 295,000.  Carter will start back on his normal oral meds today.  It was so nice all last week to not have to worry about pills!  And since the one he takes every day has to be on an empty stomach, we have to be pretty strict with dinner time usually.  Last week, it didn't matter!  We even had snacks and treats after dinner.  It was refreshing.  Something to look forward to in two years.
